Knitting is a time-honoured tradition in Iceland and can be found in nearly every home. Because of this, the Handknitting Association of Iceland has put emphasis on marketing and introducing its products to foreign visitors in Iceland and abroad. Extensive business connections were soon established in a number of countries, and the Association has since managed to export a substantial share of its woollen goods.
However, most of the production´s sales are to tourists in Iceland, so that sales are seasonable, with the summer months accounting for most of the sales.
The Handknitting Association of Iceland stresses high quality of their goods. The Association keeps a large stock of various handknitted woollen products at its store, but will also custome make goods in a short period of time.
